Philadelphia, USA - The first two vans loaded with table grapes produced in the Dominican Republic arrived at a US port, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

This shipment departed from Guayubín, in Montecristi, about a month ago, with 16 tons and another 16 from the southwest of the country, for a total of 32 tons in four thousand boxes of grapes that have just entered a North American port.

The Minister of Agriculture himself, Limber Cruz, flew to Philadelphia to receive the grapes and said that this milestone in Dominican production will be remembered in history, as they are the first two trucks to arrive, thanks to a policy of development, innovation, and promotion of agriculture by President Luis Abinader.

“The country sets a precedent in the production of seedless table grapes, in Allison and Timpson varieties, red and green.”

The agricultural entity, along with the producers and the Bloom Fresh company, which began its establishment in the country, seek to send 15 to 20 containers of grapes, given the facilities that the Dominican Republic has to produce year-round.

They started with exports from Guayubín, in the north, and San Juan in the south, setting a precedent in the local production of this internationally-recognized product.

During the reception of the containers, the Vice Minister of Technological and Scientific Affairs of Agriculture, Rafael Ortiz Quezada, the children of the producer Arismendi Almonte, and representatives of the exporting company were present.
