A 6.5 magnitude earthquake shakes Colombia

An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 was recorded this Sunday morning in central Colombia, with its epicenter located 6 kilometers from the municipality of Paratebueno, in the department of Cundinamarca (Medina, Colombia), according to a bulletin shared by the Colombian Geological Service on its X social media account.

The earthquake, which has been felt in Bogotá, the country's capital, as well as in the departments of Antioquia and Santander, had a depth of less than 30 kilometers. At the moment, no casualties or material damage are reported.

"All emergency agencies in Bogotá are activated and a sweep is currently underway in all districts to determine the impact and necessary attention following the strong earthquake felt in the city. Please report any incidents to the 123 line," wrote the city's mayor, Carlos Galán, on his X account.
