Minister Bisonó receives the IMF to review progress in production and innovation in DR

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and SMEs (MICM), Víctor Bisonó, received a mission from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today at the institution's headquarters, as part of the follow-up visits to Chapter IV carried out by the multilateral organization.

The IMF delegation held an extensive exchange with the MICM's management team on the main advances achieved by the Dominican Republic in terms of productive growth and innovation, as well as the measures adopted to face the challenges imposed by the global economy.

During the meeting, the actions promoted by the MICM to strengthen the country as a logistics and industrial hub were also addressed, the national strategy for the promotion of the semiconductor industry, intellectual property, the promotion of the circular economy and the fight against illicit trade, a model already recognized in the region.

"The Dominican Republic has shown that it can grow with stability, innovate in its public policies, and move towards a more diversified economy. Our commitment is to continue consolidating that path, always with an eye on more productivity and more opportunities for our people," highlighted Minister Bisonó.

Furthermore, he reiterated the institution's commitment to work with international organizations in favor of productive growth, innovation, and sustainable development of the country.

The IMF mission recognized the favorable investment climate exhibited by the Dominican Republic, highlighting its economic, social, and political stability as a model for the region.

The Dominican counterpart was led by Minister Ito Bisonó, who was accompanied by the Vice Ministers of Foreign Trade and Industrial Development, Vilma Arbaje de Contreras and Gianna Franjul, respectively; as well as the Vice Minister of Internal Trade, Ramón Pérez Fermín.
