During the meeting, doctor Jonadan Zapata, president of the Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy chapter of the SDOT, highlighted the relevance of the event:“For LIDOM, it is essential to support spaces where specialized medical updates are promoted, especially in areas that directly affect the health and performance of our players,” expressed Contreras.
“We are filled with satisfaction to see how the development of surgical procedures such as Tommy John surgery is advancing in the country, which has been key in the recovery of countless professional baseball players,” he added.
The keynote speakers for the symposium will be Dr. Keith Meister, physician for the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball and internationally recognized as one of the leading specialists in arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery of the elbow and shoulder, and Dr. Kenneth Craig, an expert in sports rehabilitation. Likewise, Dr. David Abreu, physiatrist and doctor of the Tigres del Licey team, thanked LIDOM and its president for the support provided to society and the scientific development of the country.“This symposium represents an important step to continue strengthening sports medicine in the country. The collaboration between our medical institutions and professional baseball is essential to take care of the health of our athletes and raise the standards of care,” he stated.
The IV International Symposium on Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine seeks to update Dominican professionals on diagnostic, prevention, and treatment techniques for sports injuries, reaffirming the joint commitment of SDOT and LIDOM to strengthening sports medicine and the comprehensive protection of Dominican athletes.
