Santo Domingo. – The company Suplax, of Chinese capital, denounced that a supervisor from the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), accompanied by four military personnel, irregularly entered its facilities and physically assaulted essential employees who were performing indispensable tasks.
The information was provided by the lawyer Salvador Catrén, legal representative of the company, who explained that the incident was recorded on the security cameras of the establishment, located on Av. Ovando.
"These people entered the building without authorization, violating the commercial domicile. They went up to the sixth floor, where they physically assaulted Chinese and Dominican nationals, even going so far as to hood one of them and take him to a prosecutor's office," Catrón denounced.
The lawyer described the act as "a flagrant violation of rights and an abuse of power".
Catrén's statements come after Ms. Rosa NG, representative of the Chinese community in the Dominican Republic, also publicly condemned the actions of the military and the supervisor of MIVED.

NG regretted what happened and recalled that Suplax constitutes an important source of employment for dozens of Dominican families, which is why he urged the authorities to handle the process “with prudence and respect”. The legal representative reiterated that Suplax remains closed to the public and that the company has fully complied with the resolution issued by the MIVED, despite considering that said ministry lacks legal competence to order the closure of a completed and operational building. "We are cooperating with the authorities, but we will continue to defend the rights of the company and our workers within the framework of the law," Catrén pointed out.
