San Carlos, convincing against Mauricio Báez in fourth consecutive win and is the first classified of group A

SANTO DOMINGO.- San Carlos club was convincing in defeating Mauricio Báez club this Tuesday, 95-81, in a victory, their fourth in a row, with which they achieved qualification to the Elimination Phase even with five dates remaining to finish the regular season of the TBS Distrito 2025.

The "Cinco Esquinas" combined team became the first ranked in group A and the first in the entire district tournament to accumulate six victories, with a record of 6-2. On their side, Mauricio evens their record at 4-4, in second place in Group A, tied with Los Prados (4-4) and Huellas del Siglo (3-5), in a regular season that is in crucial days for the classifications to the Elimination Phase.

Each group, A and B, grants three spots to the Elimination Phase, and they carry over their same record obtained in the regular season.

The leading scorers for San Carlos, who managed to build a 21-point lead over Mauricio, 77-56, in the third quarter, were Juan Guerrero with 28 points, Jaison Valdez with 17 points, Eddy Polanco with 16, Luis David Montero achieved a double-double of 12 points with 11 rebounds, and the American reinforcement Tyran De Latibeaudiere contributed 10 units, five rebounds and six assists. For the Mauricians, Juan Miguel Suero scored 19 points, Richard Bautista 18 points, five rebounds and seven assists, Tony Farmer 15 and Emmitt Williams 12. The match was held at the Ricardo -Gioriver- Arias Volleyball Palace of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, on the last day of the intergroup matches. The TBS District 2025 is organized by the National District Basketball Association (Abadina), chaired by Colonel (PN) Diego Pesqueira, and the Organizing Committee is headed by José Ignacio Paliza, Minister of the Presidency. This year's event is dedicated to the Dominican Sports Immortal Evaristo Pérez, former member of the national basketball team and former player of the San Carlos squad. The Minister of the Presidency José Ignacio Paliza, president of the Organizing Committee of the TBS District 2025, along with Colonel (PN) Diego Pesqueira, presented a recognition to Pérez, to whom they dedicated the capital city event for his brilliant, extensive, and exceptional career as a basketball player with the San Carlos club and the national team. Pérez, who was a key player in several San Carlos championships in the 1980s, was accompanied by several family members such as his wife Judith Mejía, his children Erick and Evandro, his grandson Jerick and his compadre Juan Antonio Batista. Along with Paliza and Pesqueira were also present at the recognition Lorenzo Ramirez, general director of Passports; Milton Díaz, treasurer of Abadina; Nelson Ramirez, commissioner of TBS District 2025; the executives of the San Carlos club, Agustin Espinoza and Johnny Peguero; the Immortals of Sports José -Grillo- Vargas, Eduardo Gómez and Fernando Teruel; and the veteran sports leaders Osíris Duquela and Miguel Balaguer, from the Sameji club of Santiago.
