The massive exodus of Haitians to their country continues through Dajabón for the end-of-year holidays

Dajabón. - Continuing with the tradition of returning to their homeland to celebrate the end-of-year festivities and the beginning of the next, thousands of Haitians residents in the Dominican Republic voluntarily return through this border crossing. In this part of the northern border with Haiti, the bus stops and the streets that give access to the binational bridge, from early hours are filled with legal Haitians and those in irregular migratory conditions, bound for their country of origin. Undocumented Haitians consulted by this media outlet assure that, despite the difficulties they will face when trying to return to Dominican territory in January, they work hard throughout the year to celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays with their loved ones.

This massive arrival of Haitians to Dajabón boosts a large part of the local economy, benefiting mostly motorcycle taxis, taxi drivers, and fast food vendors.
