Panama has accumulated 822 cases of dengue so far in 2026, according to the most recent epidemiological report from the Ministry of Health, which warns about the persistence of the transmission of the virus and the need to reinforce preventive measures in homes and communities. Out of the total reported, 727 correspond to cases without warning signs, while 92 present warning signs and 3 cases of severe dengue have been confirmed, reflecting the active circulation of the virus in different regions of the country. The report also indicates that the disease maintains a relevant hospital impact, with 97 people hospitalized and a cumulative total of 2 deaths associated with dengue. Health authorities reiterated that the increase in cases occurs in a context marked by climatic conditions favorable for the reproduction of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, particularly due to the rains, which generate the accumulation of water in containers and open spaces, creating ideal habitats for the transmitting vector.
