Kansas City Airport reopens after emergency evacuation

United States.- Operations at Kansas City International Airport resumed this Sunday, March 8, 2026, after authorities ordered a precautionary evacuation in several areas of the terminal due to a security situation that generated a large deployment of agents. According to official reports, passengers inside the airport were moved to waiting areas while security teams conducted inspections of the facilities. The mobilization included the presence of police units and specialized personnel.

Although versions initially emerged about a presumed security threat, so far no state or federal authority has officially confirmed that information nor has offered specific details about the origin of the incident.

Through its social media, the Kansas City Department of Aviation reported that it was aware of the situation recorded at the airfield and that, as a preventive measure, some sections of the terminal were evacuated while security assessments were carried out.

Authorities also indicated that the Airport Police worked in coordination with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to verify the nature of any possible threat and determine if there was any risk to passengers and airport staff. During the operation, some areas remained restricted and ground operations were temporarily halted as part of the security protocols established for this type of incident. Likewise, travelers were asked to follow the instructions of airport personnel and pay attention to official announcements. Approximately one hour after the start of the operation, Kansas City International Airport reported that the terminal reopened to the public after the security check was completed, allowing the gradual resumption of operations and the restoration of the normal flow of passengers and flights.
