Mayor Betty Gerónimo warns of legal action against contractors for unfinished works in SDN

Santo Domingo Norte.– Mayor Betty Gerónimo stated that her administration has initiated legal proceedings against contractors linked to works that received economic advances in the past administration and were not executed, pointing out that those funds should have been returned to the State. During his speech at the start of the reconstruction of the municipality's fire station, Geronimo revealed that upon assuming the mayor's office, they found more than a dozen projects with initial payments of up to 20% without any visible progress on the infrastructure. "Those resources should have been returned. They cannot disappear without anyone being held accountable," the official stated, emphasizing that the cases are being handled in the legal field to determine responsibilities. The mayor indicated that these irregularities forced her administration to temporarily halt some interventions due to the ongoing legal processes.

"Here, no advance payment is given if the money is not properly reserved. We don't deceive anyone," he affirmed. Also, he said that his administration seeks to set a precedent in the management of municipal resources, while sending a message to those responsible for the detected irregularities: "Everyone must be held accountable for their actions." The official concluded by reiterating that her administration will continue working to regain the trust of the citizenry, betting on the execution of works with transparency and financial responsibility.
