5.2-magnitude earthquake recorded in waters near Saona Island

Santo Domingo.- A 5.2-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was detected on Tuesday morning in the Caribbean Sea, near Saona Island. The National Seismology Institute of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo reported that the epicenter was located 40.8 kilometers east of Mano Juan, with a depth of 164 kilometers, at 5:23 a.m.

The phenomenon was perceived in locations such as La Romana, Boca de Yuma, and Bayahíbe. So far, no material or personal damage has been reported. The Seismological Institute indicated that around 20 seismic events have been recorded in the region in the last 24 hours.
