Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) received 177 proposals from candidates for members of the Electoral Board of the National District, with a view to the 2028 elections, among which 110 women are included.
The electoral body is in the sixth week of the tours for the formation of the 162 electoral boards nationwide, as part of the work carried out by the institution to guarantee transparency and citizen participation in the Dominican electoral system.

The activity was led by the president of the JCE, Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, along with the full members Samir Chami Isa, who coordinates the Commission of Electoral Boards, Parties, Groups and Political Movements; as well as Hirayda Marcelle Fernández Guzmán and Rafael Armando Vallejo Santelises, the institution said in a note. The president of the JCE highlighted the work of the formations in the 162 municipalities and that it will continue in the 23 Electoral Logistics Coordination Offices Abroad (OCLEE) which impacts between principals and alternates the designation of 1,476 people (at the municipal level) and more than 207 (abroad) for a total of 1,683 between men and women. He indicated that the parameter to be followed for the Plenary to make the national and international designation will be based on the principles of participation, "pro-participation", inclusion and national interest (common good). The president of the electoral body compared the current number of proposals with those received for the 2024 elections. He specified that the applicants for JE members for that year were 2,418 nationwide; 1,417 men and 1,001 women.
