Santo Domingo.-A Haitian man was injured after falling from the second floor of a hardware store under construction in Jimaní, Independencia province, after receiving an electric shock from the welding machine he was working with, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported this Wednesday.
The man, only identified as "Pachalé", was surprised to notice the presence of interdiction agents and, in a moment of carelessness, received the electric shock and fell on construction materials where there were several rods, according to a statement from the DGM.You may be interested in: Army detains 82 Haitian nationals in operations
The man "received injuries in the maxillary region and in the right leg and was taken to the hospital of this municipality, where he received the corresponding medical attention and is out of danger", the information added. The DGM said it regretted the fact and urged undocumented immigrants "not to despair and avoid risks when they are in the presence of interdiction units, as these are instructed to act in a humanitarian manner, respecting rights and dignity, regardless of immigration status, and complying with legal precepts".
