Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader congratulated Rodrigo Paz on Monday for his victory in the second round of the presidential elections in Bolivia, and wished him a "successful" administration.

Peace, opposition senator, won the second round of Bolivia's presidential elections this Sunday, defeating former conservative president Jorge Tuto Quiroga (2001-2002), and ended more than twenty years of governments by the leftist Movement for Socialism (MAS), led by former president Evo Morales, an ally of Chavismo. Opposition candidate Paz won with 54.57% of the votes, according to preliminary information from the Preliminary Results Transmission System (Sirepre) of the Electoral Supreme Court (TSE), with just over 97% of the processed records. The economist, from the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), will be sworn in as the new head of state of Bolivia on November 8th.
