Los Alcarrizos.– The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, led this Thursday the delivery of more than 400 property titles to families of the Hato Nuevo II project, in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, where he assured that the initiative brings “peace and joy” to the residents of the sector.
During the event, the president explained that the delivery of the titles guarantees legal security to families who for decades have lived on those lands without having the legal documentation of their homes. You may be interested in: http://Abinader assures cases of disappearances in DR are treated equally
“Today we bring peace and joy to Los Alcarrizos. Why peace? Because there was always the possibility that, even though these were government lands, someone would come to buy them from some institution and then want to charge you, as has happened in other sectors,” he expressed.
Abinader affirmed that situations like those will not occur during his administration, assuring that the government's policy is to deliver the properties directly to those who have lived for years on those lands."That hasn't happened, nor will it happen in our government, because what we do is give it directly to the people, to those who have been living there for 25, 30 or even 40 years, the true owners in fact," he pointed out.
The president explained that around 600 property titles have been processed in the sector, of which 442 were delivered during the event, while others remain in process due to pending family agreements regarding ownership. He also reported that the title program will continue to expand in other nearby sectors such as El Progreso, Santa Rosa and Buenas Noches, where work is being done on the delivery of more than 4,000 additional titles. The president also highlighted that these actions are part of a broader development plan for the municipality, which includes infrastructure works and urban improvements.“In Los Alcarrizos we have a development plan to improve your quality of life. Next week the Public Works teams are coming to work on the asphalt where it is needed”, he indicated.
Abinader highlighted that property titling has a direct impact on the economy of families, as it increases the value of their homes and allows them to access the formal financial system. “If those houses were worth a certain amount before, now they are worth three times more because they have their title. With that document they can build, improve their housing or even access a formal loan in the bank,” he explained. Finally, the Head of State reiterated his commitment to the titling program in the municipality and estimated that, if the pace of work is maintained, up to 25,000 property titles could be delivered in Los Alcarrizos before 2028. "I always say that I don't send anyone to the title deliveries, I come myself, because this is social justice and economic development for each of you," he concluded.
