Abinader says the agreement between Israel and Hamas is a crucial step in the Middle East

Santo Domingo.- The president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, celebrated this Thursday the agreement reached between Israel and Hamas, and considered that this represents "a crucial step towards coexistence in the Middle East". In a message on his X social media account, Abinader congratulated "the leadership" of U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the efforts of the Governments of Qatar and Egypt, "whose mediation opens a hope for millions of people affected by the conflict".

Trump announced yesterday that Israel and Hamas have agreed to sign the first phase of a peace agreement that will allow the rapid release of all hostages and a delimited withdrawal of Israeli forces in Gaza. The leader said on his official Truth social media account that this means "Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed line as the first steps towards a solid, lasting, and eternal peace" and that "ALL hostages will be released very soon." "This is a great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all neighboring nations, and the United States!", the Republican leader stated in his announcement and concluded by thanking the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey who worked on the negotiations in Cairo to make "an unprecedented and historic event" a reality.
