LA ALTAGRACIA. – At least five people died and twelve were injured in a traffic accident that occurred on Saturday night in the town of La Ceiba, belonging to the municipal district of Verón-Punta Cana, La Altagracia province.
The accident involved a van transporting people returning from a Christian service and a garbage truck. According to preliminary information, the impact was of great magnitude.

Immediately, the National Emergency and Security Attention System 911 coordinated the dispatch of eleven health units from the Directorate of Extrahospital Emergency Care Services (DAEH), which transported the injured to nearby medical centers. Units of the National Police, local firefighters, and other rescue teams also appeared on the scene. As of yet, the names of the deceased and injured are unknown, as are the exact circumstances in which the accident occurred.
