Rubén de Los Santos García, father of one of the deceased, expressed in a choked voice that his son was “very cheerful and obedient” and that, although the pain is immense, he trusts that “God always knows why he allows things.” Another family member recounted that at the time of the event the young people “were having fun like children, enjoying the water,” and that the tragedy “was a very hard blow for the entire community.” Américo Rafael González, close to the families, recalled that both teenagers “were inseparable” and that the news deeply shocked neighbors and friends: “Where one moved, the other moved.” The tragic event occurred when the youths, aged 13 and 15, were on the street in heavy rain. According to witnesses, a lightning bolt struck directly in the area where they were, causing their instant death. Santo Domingo. – Amidst pain and consternation, family, friends, and neighbors said their final farewells this Sunday to two teenagers who lost their lives after being struck by lightning while playing outside a home during an electrical storm.
The bodies were mourned in the community of Palavé, in Manoguayabo, where the atmosphere was marked by weeping and expressions of faith. Neighbors described the victims as cheerful, obedient, and respectful young people, who used to always share together in the neighborhood.
