Attention! Intrant starts the 2025 Household Mobility Survey in the GSD

SANTO DOMINGO.– The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) will launch the 2025 Household Mobility Survey this Monday, a statistical survey that will update data on how the inhabitants of Greater Santo Domingo and nearby municipalities move, with the aim of designing more effective solutions in terms of transit and public transport.

The initiative is being developed within the framework of the project “Support for the Implementation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Greater Santo Domingo (AIPMUS)”, with funding from the European Union and coordination by the French Development Agency (AFD), the Intrant informed through a press release.

The process, which will extend until December of this year, includes visits to more than 7,000 homes and interviews with more than 50,000 people in the National District, Santo Domingo East, North and West, as well as in Los Alcarrizos, Pedro Brand, San Antonio de Guerra, La Caleta, Boca Chica and San Cristóbal. The survey will collect information on travel reasons and frequency, means of transport used, costs, transfers, accessibility, and travel times, including walking routes. All household members over 10 years of age will participate in the survey. To ensure transparency and security, the pollsters will be duly identified with a yellow and blue vest and an ID card with their name and a QR code, which can be scanned to validate their authenticity. In addition, the institution will make available on its official channels the necessary information to verify the personnel and the questions asked. "This data will be the basis for making decisions that improve the quality of life of citizens: from new routes and improvements in infrastructure, to safer, more inclusive and sustainable transport policies," highlighted the Intrant.
