Santo Domingo.- Rafael Martínez Hazim was arrested this Monday after voluntarily appearing at the Attorney General's Office, amid investigations into the alleged millionaire fraud against ARS Senasa. His arrest raises to nine the number of defendants linked to the alleged scheme that, according to the authorities, would have handled "thousands of millions" of pesos to the detriment of the institution.
The Public Ministry maintains that this group would have articulated a fraudulent scheme that compromised public resources destined for the state health system. The investigations continue to expand as new connections and possible responsible parties within the structure are identified. You may be interested in: http://SISALRIL aguarda solicitud de coerción para pronunciarse sobre caso SeNaSa
Martínez Hazim attended accompanied by his lawyer, Carlos Balcácer, who assured that his client had already been summoned on three occasions by the authorities and had always appeared. According to his defense, the surrender this Monday demonstrates his willingness to collaborate with the investigation. Balcácer also explained that last Saturday a raid was carried out on the residence of Martínez Hazim, without him being present. However, he affirmed that this absence did not imply evasion and that his client remained locatable and willing to answer to justice.
