COTUÍ, PROV. SÁNCHEZ RAMÍREZ, R.D.- After a constant siege by the National Police, a man who was actively sought by arrest warrant surrendered on the afternoon of this Wednesday in the company of his relatives, to answer before justice.
The detainee was identified as William José Rondón Serrano, alias “Cachanga”, 36 years old, accused of allegedly sexually abusing Ilonka Yocasta Carcaño Almazar, a young woman with a condition that makes it difficult for her to walk and move around normally.

He is also accused of physically assaulting the victim's brother, who also suffers from the same health condition and is bedridden. According to the young woman's testimony, the event occurred when her father went to get lunch from Zambrana to Cotuí, at which time the accused allegedly forced a door to enter the house and commit the assault. The case sparked great outrage and held the attention of the police authorities, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the media, which ultimately led the accused to choose to surrender voluntarily. Rondón Serrano will be subjected to the action of justice in the coming hours, where a coercive measure will be known to him.
