Santiago. – A police chase ended with two alleged criminals injured, after exchanging shots with a National Police patrol after assaulting a young woman in the El Ingenio sector, of the Santiago Oeste municipal district (Cienfuegos).
The injured were identified as Anderson Andrés Almonte Rosario (Cacón) and Jefferson de Jesús Vegas Linares (El Malvado), both 18 years old, who received gunshot wounds and multiple lacerations after losing control of the motorcycle they were fleeing on, crashing into a booth during the police intervention.
The National Police assured that it will continue to confront "without respite" the antisocials who disturb peace and citizen security in the province of Santiago.

According to the official report, the officers acted after receiving a phone complaint that alerted them to two armed individuals who, aboard a black CG-type motorcycle, had robbed a young woman of her belongings. Upon being located, the suspects ignored the order to stop and one of them fired at the uniformed officers, which led to an exchange of gunfire that ended with both injured. In the scene, several pieces of evidence were seized, including a black case with women's clothing, an EKOL brand pistol, caliber .380 with a cartridge in the magazine and a casing in the slide, in addition to the black Súper Gato CG-200 motorcycle used in the act. The two young men were transferred to a medical center under police custody. They were subsequently detained and under investigation by the Public Ministry.The National Police assured that it will continue to confront "without respite" the antisocials who disturb peace and citizen security in the province of Santiago.
