"This moves all Dominicans, not only because it affects us personally, but because it reflects what is happening in the Dominican Republic. We need to get closer to God, may He bring us peace, comfort and support, because one day we go out into the streets and we don't know what we will find," he expressed. The former congressman also stated that the Peña family is deeply saddened by the loss and asked that personal conflicts be resolved through dialogue and not violence.

"We want there to be peace in our land, in our homes, and for us to seek God, because in Him we will find the calm that society is denying us", she pointed out.

Regarding the judicial part, Peña acknowledged that the alleged perpetrator is under arrest and asked that the process be handled with justice.
