Miches, El Seibo. – The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, led this Saturday the delivery of the reconstituted Miches Tourist Pier, a modern work with an investment of RD$51 million 400 thousand pesos, which is part of the comprehensive plan to strengthen infrastructure in the country's tourist destinations. During the event, Collado highlighted that Miches is a "tourism child of this administration", emphasizing that its development has been carried out under a planned vision, with basic works, public services and a territorial order that guarantees sustainable growth. "We are keeping our word and the commitment to develop Miches with transparency, planning and opportunities for its people", he affirmed. The minister explained that the pier, destroyed after a hurricane, was rebuilt after several bidding processes supervised by an Oversight Board made up of universities, churches, and representatives of the tourism clusters. "Transparency is non-negotiable. It is a firm belief and a legacy that we want to leave in every work of the Ministry of Tourism," he emphasized. Collado recalled that the Government, in alliance with the private sector grouped in Promiches, agreed on an investment of more than one billion dollars, while the State assumed the construction of basic infrastructure. He detailed that emblematic projects such as the Hotel Hilton (500 rooms), Viva Wyndham Resort (500 rooms), Hyatt (1,000 rooms in operation) and the future Four Seasons, of the Cisneros family, have already been built. “These investments guarantee more than 5,000 rooms by the year 2028 and thousands of direct and indirect jobs that will transform the local economy”, he indicated.

Finally, Collado called on citizens to value the advances in tourism and to "see the glass half full", recalling that the Dominican Republic is experiencing the best moment in its tourism history, with 10.3 million visitors in 2023, 11.2 million in 2024 and a projection of 11.5 million for 2025. "We are making history. This is not a simple pier, it is a symbol of progress and the new era of Dominican tourism," concluded the minister.
