Santo Domingo.- As part of its permanent commitment to the well-being and improvement of the quality of life of families in vulnerable situations, the General Directorate of Community Development (DGDC) renovated a family's home in the Las Canelas, Herrera neighborhood, Santo Domingo Oeste municipality.
The intervention carried out for the benefit of a family consisting of four children, three of whom have disabilities, who required adequate conditions to ensure greater safety, accessibility, and comfort in their daily environment.You may be interested in: Economic and Social Development of Santo Domingo
The works included structural improvements, roof replacement, painting, space adaptation, optimization of electrical installations, as well as the delivery of a stove, television, fan, bed set and other household items, thus ensuring a safer, more dignified and functional home for the family headed by the couple Teo Fortuna and Yovanny Beltré. The delivery was made by the general director of the DGDC, Dr. Modesto Guzmán, who, accompanied by executives and collaborators of the institution, highlighted that this type of action is part of the social programs focused on strengthening the community fabric and providing direct support to those who need it most, as have been the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader. Furthermore, he reiterated that the mission of the General Directorate of Community Development is to promote the integral development of communities through concrete initiatives that generate a positive and sustainable impact. From their side, the benefiting family expressed their gratitude for the support received, pointing out that thanks to President Luis Abinader and the general director of the DGDC, they now have a new and better opportunity in life.
