Santiago.- Residents and community leaders of the Ensanche Bermúdez held a peaceful march on Monday night to denounce what they call systematic abuses and mistreatment by agents of the National Police, who, according to them, keep the community in turmoil with constant raids and arbitrary arrests of merchants and working citizens.
During the tour of several streets in the sector, the protesters directly pointed to a major identified as Doña, whom they hold responsible for ordering indiscriminate arrests without differentiating between criminals and honest people. They assured that these actions have affected young people, employees, and business owners, interrupting their daily work.

According to testimonies, the raids have become a routine practice marked by excessive force and lack of justification, which has generated a climate of fear and outrage in the neighborhood. Community members warned that the situation constitutes a "systematic abuse" and demanded that the police and judicial authorities review the actions of the agents in the area, in order to guarantee respect for the fundamental rights of citizens. Residents of neighboring sectors also joined the protest and supported the complaints, stating that police abuses not only occur in the Ensanche Bermúdez, but also affect nearby communities in Santiago.
