Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader informed this Monday, during his meeting La Semanal with the press, that life expectancy in the Dominican Republic went from 73.5 to 75.1 between 2016 and 2024.
Abinader also revealed that coverage for high-cost patients increased from 2,747 in 2019 to 8,334 in 2024, representing a significant increase in care for people with complex diseases. He added that around 300,000 patients still remain pending for inclusion in the program.
The Head of State affirmed that the Government will continue to strengthen the strategies so that Dominicans live longer and in better conditions, guaranteeing comprehensive and accessible medical care for all.
Likewise, Abinader specified that there has been a significant reduction in neonatal mortality rates and teenage pregnancies, as part of the advances in public health during his administration.
