Los Alcarrizos.– A man who was actively wanted by the authorities died after being injured when he exchanged gunfire with National Police officers, during an intervention carried out on the afternoon of this Sunday near the 18th kilometer of the Duarte highway.
The deceased was identified as Martín Díaz Martínez, alias “Mingo” or “Minguito”. According to the preliminary report, the individual opened fire on members of the Investigations, Intelligence and Preventive Police departments upon noticing their presence, which forced the agents to repel the aggression.

During the operation, a Browning brand pistol, black with silver, which the deceased allegedly carried, was seized. According to the authorities, Díaz Martínez was wanted via arrest warrant No. 2024-TAUT-04453, for having shot Jonathan Miguel Severino Feliz on December 15, 2024, in the La Joya sector, kilometer 14 of the Duarte highway. Likewise, he was identified as the alleged perpetrator of the double homicide of Rafeli Peralta Romero and Israel Medina, who died after receiving multiple gunshot wounds on January 19, 2026, in the same sector. The case remains under investigation by the relevant agencies, while the authorities reiterate their commitment to combat crime in the municipality of Santo Domingo Oeste.
