Santiago.– The executive director of the Opportunity 14-24 Program, Alex Mordán, highlighted the importance of education and technical training in the transformation of Dominican youth, during the inauguration of the 148th center of the initiative, located in the Cienfuegos sector, in the Santiago Oeste municipal district.
Mordán stated that education is the most effective tool for young people to improve their living conditions and access greater opportunities. “Today you have in your hands the possibility of changing your history. Studying, learning a trade and preparing for the future is the most powerful tool that a young person from Cienfuegos can have to grow and demonstrate their talent,” he expressed. The opening of the new center is part of the efforts of the Social Policy Cabinet to expand the coverage of the Oportunidad 14-24 Program, a public policy focused on social inclusion, employability, and the integral development of young people in vulnerable situations.You can read: Public Ministry creates Anti-Drug Prosecutor's Office to reinforce the fight against drug trafficking
The center will offer comprehensive services, including the opening of bank accounts to promote financial autonomy, as well as the delivery of raw and cooked food during the training day. Beneficiaries will also have access to seed capital for ventures, internships in public and private institutions that facilitate their labor insertion, and psychoemotional support offered by mental health professionals. With this inauguration, the program continues to strengthen as a key strategy of the Government to expand the opportunities for training, development, and social mobility of youth in Santiago and throughout the national territory.
