Santo Domingo.- Haitian businesswoman Rosemila Petit-Frère, who is the former mayor of the commune of Arcahaie, was arrested by the authorities of the Dominican Republic after arriving in the country on a flight from Canada "with checks of different amounts," reported this Monday the General Directorate of Migration (DGM).
Petit-Frère, against whom international complaints exist for his alleged participation in illicit acts in Haiti, was arrested at the Gregorio Luperón International Airport, in Puerto Plata province.

The woman, who is attributed with the ownership of the Haitian radio station Télé Monopole, was apprehended by immigration authorities "to question her about intelligence reports received indicating that she would be carrying a large sum of money", the information added. Authorities found no cash in the woman's luggage, but they did find "checks of different amounts" so Petit-Frére was escorted to Santo Domingo, "to continue with the interrogations and coordinate her handover to the Haitian authorities", specified the DGM, which assured that the woman "is treated with respect", while guaranteeing her integrity.
