Santiago. – High-cost medications donated to the Centro Oncológico del Cibao expired or were sold without benefiting cancer patients, due to administrative decisions that allegedly prioritized economic profitability over medical care, denounced members of the institution's medical direction.
According to testimonies, medications intended for low-income patients were stored until their expiration under the argument that their free distribution affected the center's internal sales. The complainants claim that this practice deprived dozens of patients of essential treatments, in a context of high demand and economic limitations.
The accusations also include the arbitrary cancellation of key medical personnel, including coordinators and supervisors of the residency program, after they alerted about the precarious operating conditions of the center. According to sources, some professionals were dismissed through informal notifications, without due process.
