Doorman prevents woman from taking child from educational center in La Romana

Güaymate, La Romana.Moments of alarm and concern were experienced in the municipality of Güaymate, La Romana province, after a woman tried to take a child from the Profesora Ramona E. Cotes Morales school, being surprised in time by the school porter.

According to versions offered by residents and staff of the school, the woman showed up at the center claiming she would take the minor; however, the doorman, who knows the child's parents, noticed that she was not an authorized family member, which allowed the attempt to be thwarted.

"Thank God the doorman knows the parents and was able to immediately recognize that the young woman was not related to the child," expressed one of the center's teachers, highlighting the staff's quick action. The detainee was identified as "Quezada Martínez", who is said to have arrived at the school aboard a vehicle in the company of other individuals. Upon realizing that the woman had been discovered, the companions fled the scene. The event generated great concern among the municipality's residents, who expressed their fear of the possibility of similar cases. “They are stealing the children, you have to take care of your kids!”, some community members visibly worried, expressed. The authorities arrived at the scene to investigate the case and follow up on the identification and location of the other people involved, while parents and educational centers are urged to reinforce security measures in the school environment.
