Santo Domingo.– The Dominican government expressed this Tuesday its “deep satisfaction” for the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas, with the mediation of the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, while reiterating its support for any initiative that promotes peace, security and humanitarian relief in the region.
Through a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country expressed its hope that this understanding will put an end to the suffering of thousands of innocent civilians affected by the prolonged conflict. You may be interested in: Trump will give a speech in the Israeli Parliament
"We especially value the release of hostages, the exchange of prisoners, and the reopening of humanitarian access to the most affected areas," the Foreign Ministry noted in its official statement. Likewise, the Dominican Government recognized the key role played by the "mediating governments", especially "the leadership shown by the United States", to finalize a complex negotiation process of great international significance. The statement also urges the parties involved to maintain their commitment to peace, avoiding actions that could jeopardize the fulfillment of the agreement. The Dominican Republic called on the international community to continue supporting efforts for reconstruction, civil protection, and justice, in order to consolidate stability and sustained dialogue. Finally, the Government reaffirmed that the diplomatic path and respect for international and humanitarian law are the only legitimate ways to achieve a lasting solution, in line with the principles of the United Nations Charter.
