Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, assured this Monday that no State institution "protects or will protect" those who commit acts of harassment, abuse or violence against women, regardless of the aggressor's rank or position.
Raful's statements, offered through his account on the social network X, arise following the denunciation of an alleged sexual assault committed by an officer of the National Police against a former cadet of the Major General José Félix Rafael Hermida González Cadet School.
"The institution reaffirms its commitment to transparency and respect for due process, and makes it clear that it does not and will never protect acts of harassment, abuse or violence against women, under any circumstances and regardless of who commits them," said the minister.
Raful reported that the accused officer was preventively suspended while a formal investigation is carried out to clarify the facts.
