Fine Arts is working on the complete recovery of the electrical system of the Palace

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Fine Arts (DGBA) reported that, following the short circuit registered at the end of last year in the Palace of Fine Arts of Santo Domingo, the necessary measures were immediately adopted to guarantee the continuity of administrative work and the artistic programming of the venue.

As part of the preventive actions, the institution hired high-power electric plants, which has allowed to keep the facilities running while the corresponding technical studies were carried out to determine the causes and the extent of the damage to the electrical grid.

According to the results of these evaluations, the DGBA specified that the total restoration of the electrical system of the Palace of Fine Arts will require an investment of more than 80 million pesos, due to the magnitude of the work needed to install a modern, safe, and compliant network with current regulations. Currently, the entity is in the preparation phase of the bidding processes that will allow the definitive execution of the installation of the new energy matrix, in accordance with the procedures established by law. The DGBA also assured that the halls and spaces of the Palace of Fine Arts continue to operate normally and that the agenda of artistic activities will not be affected, guaranteeing the safety of staff, artists and the attending public. Finally, the institution reiterated its commitment to transparency, the safety of its facilities, and the continuity of the cultural life of the Dominican Republic.
