Hato Nuevo Cortes-Azua. - The Dominican Government paid through the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI) the sum of RD$8 million 222 thousand pesos as compensation to farmers and agricultural producers of the municipal district of Hato Nuevo Cortes, in the province of Azua.
The delivery was headed by the executive director of INDRHI, engineer Olmedo Caba Romano, who pointed out that this delivery is another example of President Luis Abinader's commitment to fulfill the needs of the farmers whose agricultural lands were impacted by the construction project of the Monte Grande Dam, in the Southwest region.

Caba Romano indicated that these farmers who were compensated belong to the tail end of the Dam project and that farmers from the communities of Monte Grande, San Simón, Los Güiros and La Meseta have already been compensated. From his side, Salvador Reyes, who spoke on behalf of the compensated agricultural products, thanked President Luis Abinader for arranging these payments and compensating for the damages caused by the rising waters and the Monte Grande Dam multiple project. The Government has made payments of RD$ 587 million for Compensation to Community Members of Monte Grande Dam. The director of INDRHI revealed that the Dominican government has disbursed a total of RD$ 587 million, 505 thousand pesos for compensation to the farmers and community members in the area of impact of the Monte Grande Dam. While, for Land Acquisition for Community, the administration of President Luis Abinader, has made payments for an amount of RD$ 83 million, 204 thousand pesos, he stated Furthermore, he stated that disbursements have been made for an amount of RD$ 29 million 415 thousand pesos, for the concept of Community Support Contribution. The event was attended by the Senator of the Province of Azua, Dr. Lía Díaz, the Civil and Provincial Governor of that southern province, teacher Minerva Navarro, the director of the Board of the Municipal District of Hato Nuevo Cortes, Fausto Feliz, and other representatives of the community.
