Santo Domingo.-The Dominican government has initiated a vetting process for social protection programs with the goal of improving the delivery of subsidies and ensuring that resources reach those who truly need them.
This was reported by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Magín Díaz, who explained that the authorities seek to generate savings of approximately RD$10 billion during this year through the review of beneficiaries enrolled in state aid programs.
According to the official, the measure will allow for the identification of individuals who no longer meet the conditions to receive financial assistance, as they have exceeded the levels of vulnerability that justified their inclusion in the programs.

Díaz pointed out that the purpose is not to reduce social protection, but to strengthen the targeting of subsidies so that public resources are directed to lower-income sectors.
