Santo Domingo Este.– The lawyer of the Ministry of Women, Lucía Burgos, requested this Wednesday that preventive prison be ordered against the members of the National Police and the Navy accused of raping and robbing a Haitian citizen.

“Let’s hope that today the coercive measure is known and that it is preventive detention, since by virtue of several postponements that have occurred by the technical defense, let’s hope that today we are all ready to know this measure, because on our part from the beginning we have been ready,” declared Burgos during the hearing at the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santo Domingo Este.

The lawyer also highlighted that the Ministry of Women has been providing psychological and legal assistance to the victim since the beginning of the process, with the aim of accompanying her during the investigation and ensuring that her rights are respected. The accused, who face charges of sexual assault, robbery, and abuse of power, remain in custody while the coercive measure to be applied by the justice system is determined.
