National District.- Within the framework of World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, the Dominican Association for the Study and Treatment of Pain and Palliative Care (ADETDYCP) and the Christian Dialogue and Representation Table presented this Thursday the National Palliative Care Plan of the Dominican Republic and signed a framework agreement to promote its implementation.
The plan, conceived as a technical-humanistic roadmap, seeks to guarantee equitable and dignified access to palliative care services throughout the country. The document covers not only medical aspects, but also social, ethical, and spiritual dimensions of care, aimed at improving the quality of life of patients with advanced illnesses and their families. You can read: Dr. Garg Foundation Clinic celebrates a decade of service and incorporates Carol Fior Pérez as director
During the event, the organizations emphasized that this delivery represents a commitment of civil society to the right to dignified care, and urged the State to "convert the plan into public policy with budgetary and institutional support." "Now it remains for our governmental institutions to do their part," the organizers expressed. The signed agreement establishes an alliance to execute joint actions in four strategic areas: promotion of integral health, training and awareness, specialized multidisciplinary care, and influence on public policies. The event, held at the Social Service Building of Churches, was attended by deputy Rafael Castillo, president of the Bicameral Commission studying the modification of Law 87-01, as well as representatives from the health sector, universities, patient organizations, religious leaders, and the media. The central words were delivered by Bishop Reynaldo Franco Aquino, president of the Dialogue Table, and Dr. Bethania Martínez, from ADETDYCP.
