Santiago. – The intense rains recorded on the afternoon of this Thursday caused the fall of several trees on Estrella Sadhalá avenue, causing a strong traffic jam near the Haiti Consulate and other central areas of the city.
Members of the Santiago Fire Department went to the scene to carry out cleaning work and remove the trees that were obstructing the passage, while agents of the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (DIGESETT) deployed in the area to facilitate traffic.
The director of Civil Defense in Santiago, Francisco Arias, reported that in addition to falling trees, urban floods occurred on important roads such as 27 de Febrero avenue, the Circunvalación Sur and other points of the municipality, causing long traffic jams and discomfort among drivers and pedestrians.

Arias urged the population to stay attentive to official bulletins and to report any emergency situation to the rescue organizations, especially in areas prone to flooding. So far, no victims have been reported, although the authorities maintain a constant monitoring in the vulnerable areas to prevent major incidents. The rains are part of a system of instability that has affected a large part of the country, so the authorities reiterate the call for caution and to avoid unnecessary travel in risk areas.
