Santo Domingo, R.D. – Political leader Tomás Hernández
Alberto recognized this Tuesday the effort and firm will of President Luis Abinader, who for five years has carried the voice of the Dominican Republic before the international community, demanding urgent attention to the crisis facing the neighboring nation of Haiti.
In statements offered to the radio station FM 107.2 “La Radio”, Hernández Alberto emphasized that the recent approval by the United Nations Security Council (
UN) of the multinational security support mission in Haiti constitutes a historic event, the result of the perseverance and active diplomacy of the Dominican president.
"Thanks to the determination of President Abinader and the support of allied countries such as the United States and Panama, today the world responds to the Dominican Republic's call to decisively confront the threat of gangs that cause so much harm to the Haitian people and regional stability," expressed Hernández Alberto.
The politician valued that Dominican diplomacy, under the leadership of President Abinader, has managed to put the Haitian reality on the international agenda, which for years was ignored by the world community. "Today we can say that the constant work paid off," he said.
He also highlighted that the approval of the mission not only represents relief for Haiti, but also a guarantee of greater security for the entire Caribbean region, including the Dominican Republic, which has been the nation most affected by the Haitian crisis.
"This is a triumph for the Dominican Republic, for the firm and coherent foreign policy of our president, and for the international solidarity that has finally understood the magnitude of the Haitian problem," he pointed out.
Finally, Hernández Alberto called on Dominicans to feel proud to have a president who has known how to defend the country's interests with courage and responsibility in the highest world forums, demonstrating that the voice of the Dominican Republic is respected and is heard.
