Santo Domingo – Karen Wilmer, a Dominican woman, has decided to break the silence after being the victim of a chain of abuses that she claims have pushed her to the limit: attempted murder, fraud, constant harassment, and destruction of her personal and professional life, all as a result of a relationship she had with a man identified as Alberto, against whom she claims there is a court sentence that has never been enforced.
“I had an accident in a sentimental relationship that ended in a nightmare. From the moment I stepped out of my house, the threats began. I was a victim of attempted homicide. He sent people to kill me, they chased me on motorcycles, they spied on me, they followed me. I have survived by a miracle,” she recounted with anguish.
According to Wilmer, the legal process concluded with a sentence that obligated the accused to compensate for emotional, physical, and material damages. This included the reimbursement of a considerable sum of money, the delivery of a home, and part of an inheritance. However, she denounces that she has not received a single compensation, and that while her aggressor continues to acquire properties and live comfortably, she has been stripped of everything.
“My Banreservas account reached two million pesos, and there were also transactions in Popular and BHD that I did not authorize. They used my accounts without my permission. Banco Popular imposed on him to pay a bond of 1.5 million pesos. It is supposed that with that he should return my money, but nothing has happened. And on top of that, they fired me from my job for slander that they themselves took there,” he denounced.
Wilmer asserts that he has exhausted all possible institutional avenues. He says he has gone to the National Palace, the Public Ministry, and different prosecutors’ offices, without obtaining an effective response. He even claims that more than 15 days ago he delivered a letter to the President of the Republic asking that his case be reviewed, without having received a reply.

“Justice has not protected me. They broke into my house, stole my legal documents, and constantly watch me. I feel helpless. If I had been the one trying to harm him, I would have been in jail a long time ago,” she expressed through tears.
Karen Wilmer demands the intervention of the judicial authorities and the Government. She cries out for the sentence to be enforced, her money to be returned, the bank transactions to be investigated, and her personal safety to be guaranteed.
“I just want justice. It’s not just about the money. The emotional, social, and psychological damage they did to me, no one can pay for that. But at least I deserve an answer. I am alive by the grace of God,” she concluded.
