Intrant denies versions about payment of RD$25 million to law firms

Santo Domingo. – The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) clarifies that the information circulating in some media about an alleged payment of twenty-five million pesos for the hiring of legal services is false. The institution states that a procurement process is currently underway, under the reference INTRANT-CCC-PEOR-2025-0002, with the aim of hiring the services of the firms CURY & CURY, S.R.L. and ETC & Asociados, S.A.S., in accordance with the procedures established by Law 340-06 on Public Procurement and Contracting and its regulations to offer legal services for a period of 12 months (one year) against service provisions.

This process has not yet been awarded, therefore, no contract has been signed nor has any payment been made. The hiring was duly scheduled in the institution’s 2025 Annual Procurement and Contracting Plan and published transparently on the corresponding portals. The Intrant clarifies that, once the evaluation and awarding phase is concluded, the contracts will be signed and registered in accordance with the regulations. Only then will monthly payments be made against effective provision of services, for an established period of 12 months (one year). This hiring responds to the institutional need to strengthen the legal capacity of the Intrant, expedite administrative procedures with legal implications, and provide technical support to normative projects, regulations, resolutions, and other regulatory initiatives. Furthermore, it seeks to ensure a solid legal defense before the courts of the Dominican Republic, safeguarding the interests of the Dominican State.
