“Juan Súper Gato” dies after allegedly confronting police patrol in Santiago

Santiago de los Caballeros. – The National Police reported that a well-known antisocial identified as José Adames, alias “Juan CG” or “Juan Súper Gato”, 51 years old, died after shooting at a patrol of the Regional Sub-Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) in the municipality of Santiago Oeste (Cienfuegos). The incident occurred under the bridge of the Circunvalación Norte, in the municipal district of Santiago Oeste, when the agents were carrying out intelligence work with the aim of executing arrest warrant No. 2026-AJ0000875-002, dated January 6, 2026, for violation of articles 265, 266, 379 and 385 of the Dominican Penal Code, related to criminal association and aggravated robbery.

According to the preliminary report, upon noticing the police presence, the deceased fired several shots at the acting officers, who were forced to repel the aggression. During the exchange, he was injured and later died while receiving medical attention.

Extensive Criminal Record

According to police files, "Juan Súper Gato" had an extensive criminal record and was repeatedly engaged in the purchase, receipt, and commercialization of stolen motorcycles, which he stored in shacks, residences, and businesses he owned, to then transport them to the border area and the neighboring country of Haiti, in coordination with local criminal networks. Between the years 2021 and 2025, he was arrested, investigated and accused on multiple occasions of aggravated robbery, association of wrongdoers, receiving stolen motorcycles and chassis alteration, as well as being investigated in cases linked to armed gangs dedicated to robberies and events in which homicides occurred during criminal actions.

Occupied Evidence

In the scene, a Bersa brand pistol, 9 mm caliber, serial number 651588, with its magazine and two 9 mm caliber casings, was seized, which he was carrying without any type of legal documentation. When checked in the Police Criminal Consultations System (SPCC), the weapon did not yield any record. The body was taken to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), in Santiago, for the corresponding legal purposes.
