Santo Domingo.- The Public Ministry will request this Friday coercive measures against the Chinese businessman Po Xie, owner of the Mudan store, located on Duarte Avenue in the National District, after being arrested for a complaint filed by the General Directorate of Migration (DGM).
Po Xie was arrested in the Villa Consuelo sector and transferred to the Palacio de Justicia de Ciudad Nueva, after initially being held in a detachment in San Carlos. The file details that during an operation carried out on May 28th at the Mudan store premises, Po Xie allegedly assaulted the acting personnel. At the scene, the authorities detained 35 Haitian citizens who, according to Immigration, were working in an irregular condition.
Among those affected are employees Martín Juan Mateo Mora, Rosmel Daritza Matías, and Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Cuevas De Óleo, who were part of the team deployed by the DGM.For repeatedly hiring foreign labor without legal status, the company Mudan Confort Collection was administratively sanctioned with a fine of RD$450,000. According to current regulations, Law 285-04 and its implementing regulation 631-11, this sanction corresponds to the maximum allowed for this type of infraction. The company has already paid the corresponding amount.
