Migration claims to arrest 1,550 undocumented immigrants and deports 812 to Haiti

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported this Friday that it detained 1,550 undocumented immigrants and deported 812 in operations carried out in the last 24 hours, in which troops from the Armed Forces and agents of the National Police also participated. Migration said in a note that it stopped undocumented immigrants in the Los Ríos sector, National District, as well as in the municipalities of Los Alcarrizos and Guerra, and in neighborhoods on the Mella highway.

Only in the capital, 303 arrests were recorded, the organization added. The figure represents 26.4% of the actions of the DGM, followed in numerical order by the provinces of La Vega (Constanza) with 120 cases (10.5%) and Pedernales with 76 (6.6%). Migration received the collaboration of members of the Armed Forces and the National Police.

This Thursday, 812 people were deported to their country of origin through the border checkpoints. The one in Elías Piña had the highest flow with 504 processed departures, followed by Dajabón with 373 cases.

The DGM ratified that these operations are carried out under the strict instruction to respect legal processes, ensuring that each interdiction is carried out under principles of legality, respect for human rights, rational use of force, and humanitarian treatment.
