Santo Domingo. – Despite the rains caused by Tropical Storm Melissa, the motorcycle taxi drivers of Greater Santo Domingo continue to offer service as usual, although they acknowledge that the bad weather has made traffic slower and has reduced the number of passengers.
“Transportation today is a little complicated due to the rain. You know it becomes more uncomfortable, we move slower and traffic jams increase, but even so we are providing the service”, explained Suriel, Manager of one of the stops on Winston Churchill Ave., while coordinating the boarding of passengers under a light drizzle.

The drivers agreed that, although the conditions are not the best, they must continue working to earn their daily living.“The passenger needs to move, and one also has to figure things out. It's just that we're being more cautious because of the rain”, commented another motorcycle taxi driver in the area.
In the midst of the rainy landscape, it is recommended that passengers also wear helmets, avoid traveling through flooded areas, and exercise caution on the streets, while the authorities maintain the call to the population to act with caution in the face of the rains that continue to affect a large part of the country.
