Santo Domingo.- The Public Ministry accused this Sunday the former director of the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), Santiago Marcelo F. Hazim Albainy, of leading an alleged network of administrative corruption that would have defrauded the institution for billions of pesos, through maneuvers that involved internal collaborators and external entities.
According to the statement, the alleged structure operated under the control of Hazim and would have executed actions to embezzle public funds through illicit mechanisms still under investigation. The Public Ministry detailed that those involved are accused of the commission of coalition of officials, prevarication, association of wrongdoers, bribery, fraud against the Dominican State, embezzlement, forgery, use of false documents and money laundering, among other crimes linked to administrative corruption. The operation, carried out on Saturday, included 12 raids, with the participation of 25 prosecutors and more than 200 police officers, as part of the process to support the accusation and ensure the seizure of the resources allegedly diverted. In addition to Hazim, Gustavo Enrique Messina Cruz, Germán Rafael Robles Quiñones, Francisco Iván Minaya Pérez, Eduardo Read Estrella, Cinty Acosta Sención, Ramón Alan Speakler Mateo and Ada Ledesma Ubiera were arrested, identified by the Public Ministry as part of the investigated scheme. The Attorney General's Office reported that other natural and legal persons remain under investigation, with a view to their possible prosecution as the case progresses.
