Mirabal Sisters.– In an effort to strengthen citizen security and reduce criminal acts, Colonel René E. Luna Kunhardt, departmental commander of the National Police, led the morning of this Thursday an act of mass destruction of objects seized during prevention and persecution operations of crime.
The activity, carried out in coordination with the Public Ministry, Dintel, and other state security agencies, took place at the departmental headquarters, where more than a thousand bladed weapons of different types and dimensions were destroyed, as well as balaclavas commonly used by antisocials to conceal their identity in criminal acts.

Dozens of slot machines, weights, backpacks, and other objects that remained in police custody after being seized in recent operations were also removed. Colonel Luna Kunhardt explained that this action responds to the institutional guidelines of the National Police to avoid social conflict, preserve peaceful coexistence, and reduce criminal acts in the province and surrounding areas. Similarly, he reiterated the institution's commitment to the citizenry, highlighting that the seizures are the result of preventive operations and intelligence work carried out in recent weeks. For their part, representatives of the Public Ministry highlighted the importance of this type of joint initiatives, considering that they contribute to strengthening the population's trust in the authorities and guarantee that the seized objects do not circulate again in the streets. The National Police reaffirmed that it will continue to carry out firm and coordinated actions to combat crime and guarantee the tranquility of families in the province of Hermanas Mirabal and the country in general.
