President Luis Abinader led the inauguration this Tuesday of a new courier terminal at Las Américas International Airport (AILA), an infrastructure that will allow the processing of more than four million additional packages per year and that reinforces the positioning of the Dominican Republic as a key logistics center in the region.
During the event, the president highlighted that this work is part of the Government's efforts to modernize the transportation and trade system, facilitating the growth of electronic commerce and significantly reducing the delivery times of goods to consumers.
The new facility seeks to respond to the growing demand for courier services driven by the boom in online shopping. With greater operational capacity, a notable improvement in the efficiency of package handling is expected, benefiting both companies and citizens who make personal imports.
In addition to its economic impact, the terminal projects an image of modernization, confidence, and efficiency to international investors and business partners.
With this inauguration, the Government reaffirms its commitment to the logistical development and digital transformation of the country, consolidating AILA as a strategic gateway for regional trade.
